| Red Gram Dal - Kandipappu | 1/2 cup | |
| Water | 1.5 cups | |
| Ginger | 1 tsp | minced |
| Green chilis | 3-4 small | sliced |
| Onion | 1/2 medium | chopped |
| Fenugreek seeds | 1/4 tsp | all cooked for 4 whistles |
| For Seasoning: | ||
| Indian seasoning | cumin, turmeric & hing | |
| Tomato | 1 | quartered |
| Garlic | 4-5 cloves | minced |
| Curry leaves | few | chopped |
| Salt | to taste | |
| Lemon juice | to taste |
Method:
- Fry tomato, garlic and curry leaves in seasoning
- Add to cooked dal
- Bring to boil then turn off heat
- Add salt, lemon juice to taste
- Garnish with cilantro
