Varan Dal

Serves: 4

Red Gram Dal - Kandipappu1/2 cup
Water1.5 cups
Ginger1 tspminced
Green chilis3-4 smallsliced
Onion1/2 mediumchopped
Fenugreek seeds1/4 tspall cooked for 4 whistles
For Seasoning:
Indian seasoningcumin, turmeric & hing
Tomato1quartered
Garlic4-5 clovesminced
Curry leavesfewchopped
Saltto taste
Lemon juiceto taste

Method:
  1. Fry tomato, garlic and curry leaves in seasoning
  2. Add to cooked dal
  3. Bring to boil then turn off heat
  4. Add salt, lemon juice to taste
  5. Garnish with cilantro
