| Red chilis | 3-4 broken | |
| Cumin | 2 tbsp | cook all for 4 whistles |
| Tamarind paste | to taste | |
| Salt | to taste | |
| Water | as needed | |
| Brown sugar | to taste | |
| Indian seasoning | ||
| Cilantro | few | chopped |
Method:
- Once the dal, onion and red chilis have been cooked, add the remaining ingredients along with seasoning
- Bring to boil once and turn off heat
