Makes: 6 oz x 2 glasses
Method:
- Measure and have all ingredients ready to add as the recipe comes together in 5 minutes
- Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces and whisk the cornstarch slurry without lumps
- Heat milk and heavy cream on medium until it gets warm
- Add the cocoa powder first and stir until there are no lumps
- Then add dark chocolate, keep stirring until it melts completely
- Now add the sugar, salt, and vanilla extract
- Stir the starch slurry once again, then add to the pot
- Keep stirring on medium heat until it has almost sauce-like consistency. Add the optional Kahlua/Bailey's/cinnamon powder and take off heat
- The chocolate will thicken as it cools, so if it's too thick, add a splash of milk and mix well
- Pour into 6 oz glasses, leaving 1/2 inch room for cream
- Top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder
