Stuffed Bitter Gourd

Bitter gourd4
For Paste:
Red chilis3-4dry roast
Coconut3/4 cup
Onion1big chunks
Coriander seeds2-3 tbspdry roast
Saltto taste

  1. Slit the bitter gourd vertically and cut into equal thirds or halves. Sprinkle with salt and pressure cook for 3 whistles
  2. Let cool and remove seeds carefully with spoon
  3. Grind red chilis, coconut, onion and coriander seeds to paste 
  4. Deep fry the gourds in oil and keep aside
  5. Mix seeds with paste
  6. Fry masala in little oil for 10-15 minutes until raw smell disappears
  7. Stuff gourds with masala using spoon


  1. The coconut onion paste, don't make it too fine. It will take longer to cook. Leave it coarse.
