Atukulu Upma

Tamarind paste2 tbsp
Red onion1 mediumchopped
Brown sugar2 tsp
Cilantrofew leavesminced
Green chilis2-3 mediumminced
Atukulu1.5 cup
Saltto taste
Indian seasoning

  1. Soak atukulu in hot water for 30 minutes
  2. Fry onion and green chilies with seasoning
  3. Add the rice along with sugar, salt and tamarind paste
  4. Mix well and garnish with cilantro

You can replace tamarind with lemon juice for a different take on this dish. For the lemon version, onions are optional. You can also omit both tamarind and lemon for a plain version with just seasoning
