Chili Oil

Oil1/2 cup
Red chili powder1/4 cup
Salt1/2 tsp
Cloves2 small
Garlic2 small
Pepper1 tsp
Star anise1 star
Cinnamon1-inch piece
Bay leaf1 piece
  • Heat oil to between 200 - 225F, keep 2.5 on the back burner
  • Mix salt and red chili powder
  • Add the whole spices and maintain oil at a consistent temperature for about 30 minutes
  • Remove from heat and add to chili powder and salt mixture
  • Store in an air-tight container
